IXCHEL PÉREZ DURAN
She is a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral researcher at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). Her research focuses on the field of comparative public policy, especially on accountability, regulation, and regulatory agencies of the European Union. She holds a PhD in Political and Social Sciences from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (European Mention). Her doctoral research, titled “Accountability for public policies: the case of health policy in Spain,” is an original contribution to the analysis, measurement, and explanation of accountability in public policies. Her most recent work centers on European Union agencies, particularly analyzing their relationships with various political actors and interest groups.
Before joining IBEI, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Political Science at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona on a research project about the role of the European Parliament in the oversight and accountability of European Union agencies. She has been a visiting researcher at Leiden University, the University of Antwerp, the Utrecht University School of Governance, and the European University Institute. Her research has been published in Regulation & Governance, West European Politics, European Political Science Review, Journal of European Public Policy, and International Review of Administrative Sciences, among others.
